Joining the club

The UCCC welcomes anyone and everyone to join!!! This includes not only University of Canterbury students but also all Tertiary Students, Secondary Students, and those already in the Workforce. There is an annual membership fee of $20 and this goes towards the gear maintenance and replacement, administrative costs, social events, Whitewater NZ affiliation* and all the other things that keep this club running. To join the club, fill in an application form here, or if there is anything else you would like to know about the University of Canterbury Canoe Club contact Ben Cudby (Captain), who will be able to answer your questions.

Be assertive, active and willing and this club will introduce you to an amazing sport that is manageable and challenging for all people. See you out on the water...

*Whitewater NZ, formerly New Zealand Recreational Canoeing Association who's purpose is, to preserve New Zealand's white-water resources and enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely, is an awesome organization and we encourage everyone to check them out on rivers.org.nz UCCC offers financial support to the NZRCA, but this does not entail a full individual membership of NZRCA for UCCC members.

MSC Outdoor Intentions Form

This year we are hoping the club will make an extra effort to ensure trip intentions are logged before every trip that takes place, whether it be a club trip or personal. Even if you are just planning a small day adventure, we need you to fill in and submit this form with details on who you are with, where you are going, what you have with you, and when you intend to be out:

http://www.adventuresmart.org.nz/outdoors-intentions/email.asp

This is a great system that is very simple to use, and lets us know where you are likely to be and how best to get help to you if things turn pear-shaped. Plus, it only takes 2 minutes to fill out online! Unfortunately, this has been done poorly in the past, so if we could get on top of it this year we can be a much safer club. We will be checking that this has been performed, so don't force us to name and shame!
